FAMILY DAY 2019

On Sat 5 Oct 2019, we held a Family Day event at our premises with 91 people attending from the community (46 adults and 45 children). Everyone had a fun time playing team games, getting to know one another, and listening to an introductory talk on Love Languages. This was followed by a buffet meal together. We thank God for the good turnout and opportunity to make new friends.

CELEBRATING BCC'S 32ND ANNIVERSARY

With praise to God, we marked our 32nd church anniversary on Sun 7 July during our usual morning service. Elder James chaired the service and Pastor Graham preached from Hebrews 10:19-25 on "Standing Orders" for the church. The anniversary cake was jointly cut by representatives from various age groups, followed by lunch together.

BAPTISMS 5 MAY 2019

With joy and thanksgiving, we witnessed the baptisms of Elijah Lim, Ang Jia Hong and Ashur Gan on 5 May. Each one shared their testimonies of salvation before being immersed by Pastor Lincoln, our Youth and Young Adults Pastor. Immediately after they shared in the Breaking of Bread with the rest of the congregation. It was great to see many relatives, friends and well-wishers present at the service as well as the shared lunch later. Praise God for a wonderful day!

Our New Pastor

Hi everyone! I’m Lincoln, the incoming Pastor of the Next Gen Ministries (Young Adults, Youth, Children). I’m married to Grace and we have one son, Nathan.

Before coming to BCC, I served as a pastor at Bethesda Church Bukit Arang, overseeing ministries such as adults, youth and children.

Prior entering full-time ministry, I worked as a teacher in Nanyang Junior College, teaching history. I also spent some time working in the Special Education Branch of the Ministry of Education.

Grace and I have been married for 13 years. She’s currently pursuing her theological studies at the Evangelical Theological College of Asia (ETCAsia).

Nathan is 11 years old and a Primary Five student at St. Andrew’s Junior School.

As a family, we enjoy playing board games and watching Nathan play football.

We’re really thankful and excited to be here at BCC and we’re looking forward to getting to know everyone better and serving together to reach Singapore with the gospel.

Baptism

We praise God that Ethan Leong was baptized on Sunday 3 February 2019 after sharing his testimony, after which his “big brother” Yap Wei Jin helped him out of the tub. He was then given a certificate and a present from the church, and then Elder  Chua Song Khim said a prayer for him.  In the group picture Ethan (in white) is pictured with some of BCC’s youth and young adults after the event.

Christmas Day 2018

With joy and thanksgiving four brothers and sisters in Christ were baptized watched by invited relatives and friends. Daisy Simpson, Jasmine Kok, Looi Kwok Meng and Titus Tsang each also selected a "Big Brother/Sister" to be their spiritual guide and encourager going forward. They also shared their testimonies before they were immersed, and received a certificate from Elder Fan Yung after their baptisms.

CHILDREN’S DAY FAMILY FUN HOUSE

We celebrated Children’s Day on 6 October 2018 with Family Fun House, complete with family games, old school games, face painting, photo booth, decoupage, and lots of food such as hotdogs, sushi, fishballs and chicken wings. We made many new friends with those living in the neighbourhood and enjoyed watching the children have a great time. Parents also found the parenting talk by CEO of Care Corner, Mr Yap Poh Kheng, both enlightening and practical.

ROLLING FOOD TIMES!

Our BCC Family Day on 26 May saw several families from the community coming together for a roiling good time - we made meat dumplings, sushi and Vietnamese rice rolls. We also had a pancake flipping and omelette making competition which everyone enjoyed! Our invited speaker, Kohila Govindaraju, who is a nutritionist and certified physical trainer, talked about the healthy plate and gave exercise tips, among other health topics. One participant wrote that she and her son and friends enjoyed the hands-on sessions, making and eating the goodies!

A BUSY BUT PRODUCTIVE MONTH!

We had a busy month in March when we conducted a block visitation to invite our HDB neighbours to our Easter Service, held our church AGM, and also had a Good Friday service in the morning and a special Easter Outreach service which was well attended followed by lunch. We give thanks for the debut of our choir which sang at both services.

A "first for BCC" was hosting the movie "The Case For Christ" which featured the true story of Lee Strobel, an investigative reporter who tried to destroy evidence for the Resurrection of Jesus, but found faith in Jesus instead. This was held at a Golden Village movie theatre at Junction 8, Bishan. It was a compelling, inspiring movie with many Bible themes - a must-see for people of all ages.

We thank God for many friends who attended the outreach events, it was a joy to meet and befriend them.

MOVIE OUTREACH

In a novel outreach effort on Saturday 24 March 2018, BCC booked a movie slot at a Golden Village cinema at 1pm in Junction 8, Bishan to screen “The Case for Christ  – one man’s journey to solve the biggest mystery of all time.” This true story based on a worldwide bestselling book is about how an investigative journalist named Lee Strobel, tried to research evidence which he hoped would demonstrate to his wife - a new believer - that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ could not have happened. Instead, Strobel like other sceptics before him, was forced to admit the truth of the Gospel, not only because he was unable to prove it wrong, but also because of his wife’s transformation after her conversion. It is a movie well worth seeing because it shows the life-transforming power of the Gospel, and also for the many Bible themes it raises. We are thrilled that over 60 friends of BCC worshippers attended and were each given a booklet about the Resurrection to read. They were also invited to attend BCC’s Easter service the following, Sunday 1 April 2018.

BAPTISM OF WILLIAM AND DAVE ZHANG

We rejoice with William and Dave Zhang as father and son were baptized on Sun 3 September in the presence of friends and the BCC family. Both also shared their testimonies of how they accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour. Elder Fan Yung presented them with baptism certificates and Elder James prayed for them. Both also approached an older believer to be their “Big Brother” in Christ. In the case of William he asked Elder Khai Mun, and Dave has Charles Chong as his big brother.

FAMILY DAY@ORTO 27 MAY 2017

This year, BCC celebrated Families for Life at our Family Day event held at ORTO in Yishun on 27 May. Thank God for the cool dry weather during the games despite the downpour a couple of hours before the event began at  We had a great time with old friends from the Sembawang and Woodlands community as well as new families who joined us for some wonderful family bonding, a yummy buffet dinner and a meaningful talk on building strong families by Jason Wong, founder of Dads for Life and the Yellow Ribbon Project. Watch out for our Children’s Day event coming up in October!
